How to determine the minimum starting voltage for a cooling fan?

Many people may think that the starting voltage of a cooling fan is the voltage written on the label, but in fact, the smaller starting voltage is much smaller than that voltage, which is the rated voltage. Let me introduce these two voltages to you:

The starting voltage refers to the small voltage that can start the cooling fan when it is suddenly powered on.

The working voltage refers to the voltage at which the cooling fan operates stably and normally after being powered on, that is, the rated voltage.

Starting voltage: Generally, the rated voltage of a DC fan is 12V, and the starting voltage is generally below 7V. However, the voltage provided by the system may be unstable. If the starting voltage is lower, the distance between it and the rated voltage of 12V is relatively large, indicating that the DC fan can operate within a wider voltage range, which can ensure that the starting fan can be activated at low voltage when the voltage is unstable. The magnitude of the starting voltage value can be measured using detection tools such as a multimeter. The low working current of the fan not only reduces power consumption, but also reduces the heat generated by the fan motor, which can increase the service life of the fan. For oil containing fans, it can also slow down the evaporation of lubricating oil, so the lower the current, the higher the reliability of the fan.
